Natural stone is one of the most striking materials on any property, and one of the most sensitive. High pressure can etch the surface, strip colour and do damage that can’t be undone. Hobart sandstone in particular is soft and porous.
We use low pressure and stone-safe treatments that let the growth die and rinse away, lifting dirt, algae, lichen and organic staining without harming the stone. Pathways, courtyards, walls and features all come back to their natural colour.

Done properly
Stone by stone
Sandstone
Soft and porous, so it gets a soft wash. The treatment does the work and a gentle rinse finishes it. The golden colour comes back without losing a grain.
Bluestone and granite
Harder stones, but they still stain and grow lichen. Matched pressure and targeted treatment bring the tone back evenly.
Walls and retaining structures
Stacked and cut stone walls are cleaned from the top down, so runoff doesn’t re-stain what’s already done.

How much does natural stone cleaning cost in Hobart?
It depends on the stone, the area and the build-up. Stone takes more time than concrete because it needs lower pressure and a more careful method, so we quote it on site, free.
Will cleaning damage my natural stone?
Not when it’s done right. We never use more pressure than the stone can handle, and sandstone gets a soft wash.

How often should natural stone be cleaned?

Can you seal sandstone after cleaning?
Yes. We use a breathable penetrating sealer that suits stone, or an enhancing sealer that brings out the stone’s natural colour while it protects, with no film on top. Either one keeps it cleaner for longer, and we’ll recommend whether it’s worth it for your surface.
